Born in 2387, Ben grew-up dreaming of joining Starfleet and exploring strange new worlds. His dream came true when he enrolled in Starfleet Academy in San Francisco, majoring in supercalifragilistics with a minor in quantum basket weaving. 

But while working on his warp field final he was transported to the savage past of the 21st century. Limited by the primitive technology of the era, Ben had no means to return to or contact the future. So in order to survive in the past and not contaminate the timeline he pursued an occupation with absolutely no possibility of influencing anything whatsoever. Advertising.

While he may be stuck in the past, Ben is still Starfleet, and so he has a mandate to explore this strange new world of the past. He enjoys various 21st century activities such as camping, cooking, drawing, road trips, collecting records, and DnD.
